These pieces are from my Mom's button collection. I am not sure why she saved all these buttons, but when she passed away, I kept them. One afternoon, about 6 months after she passed, I decided to separate the buttons by color and smashed them with a hammer. It was very cathartic. The loss of her was huge. A crack like San Andrea's Fault. Creating one long line and allowing the pieces to fall where they may, felt really freeing and made something tidy and beautiful. Art helps us feel our feelings and maybe even understand them a bit more...
