'Yoga Art,' an innovative fusion of movement and creativity, has evolved from the 'Got Your Back' project into a vibrant exploration of body and expression. Through the use of acrylic paints, I transform the grace of yoga asanas into stunning visual art on canvas. Collaborating closely with the immensely talented local yoga teachers, Linda Ramos Collie and Nicole Daly, has been an incredible honor. The remarkable control over their bodies allows me to dip them in paint as they seamlessly transition through various poses, resulting in mesmerizing artwork that captures the essence of their movements.
The journey has been marked by unforgettable performances. In the summer of 2017, we had the opportunity to showcase our work at the 'Night Circus' in Tacoma, where we captivated audiences with the interplay of color and form. The following summer, we took to the stage at the Venardos Circus. To my delight, the turnout was larger than I could have imagined, and the energy within the tent was nothing short of magical. Our performance at Urban Grace in October 2019 was yet another highlight, where the synergy between art and yoga resonated deeply with those in attendance.
May 2024 saw us returning to Urban Grace for our most ambitious performance yet: 'The Four Seasons of Vivaldi.' The blend of classical music and dynamic yoga art created an enchanting atmosphere that left an indelible mark on the audience. Now, as we look ahead to our next yoga art performance scheduled for Spring 2025, anticipation fills the air. With each event, we continue to push the boundaries of creativity while celebrating the intersection of movement, art, and community.
